Pressure vessel, tank and FEA calculations
Mechanical design to ASME VIII, EN 13445 and PD 5500, API storage tanks and finite-element analysis for the details codes do not cover.
Equipment calculations range from the routine — shell and head thickness, nozzle reinforcement, saddles — to the specialist: lethal service, cladded heavy vessels, lifting and transport of 100-tonne equipment, local stresses where piping loads meet a thin shell. Where the code formulas stop, finite-element analysis takes over.
The studio works for equipment manufacturers and EPC contractors on vessels, columns, heat exchangers, slug catchers, storage tanks and ducts, including fitness-for-service assessments of existing equipment.

What the package covers
- Pressure vessels and columns to ASME VIII Div. 1, EN 13445, PD 5500 and Italian requirements.
- Heat exchangers to TEMA; reboilers, filters, drums.
- Saddles, skirts, lifting lugs and trunnions; lifting and transport conditions.
- Storage tanks to API 650, API 620 and EN 14015; roofs and reinforcements.
- Nozzle local stresses (WRC 297 / 537, FEA) and fitness-for-service to API 579.
- Finite-element analysis with Code_Aster / Salome-Meca for non-standard geometry and thermal-mechanical studies.
Typical deliverables
- Mechanical calculation report.
- FEA report with model description, mesh and stress classification.
- Lifting / transport calculations.
- Recommendations for reinforcements.

Frequently asked questions
Do you work for equipment manufacturers?
Yes — calculations for vessels, reboilers, filters, slug catchers and ducts have been delivered both to manufacturers and to EPC contractors.
When is FEA needed instead of code formulas?
When geometry or loads fall outside the code rules: large openings, unusual supports, local piping loads on thin shells, thermal gradients, lifting points. Stresses are then classified according to the design-by-analysis rules.
Can you assess existing equipment?
Yes, with fitness-for-service assessments to API 579 and recalculation with the measured thicknesses.
Need a stress analysis, a calculation package or a second opinion?
Send the line list, isometrics or model and the applicable code: you receive a defined scope and a fixed-price proposal.
